NEW YORK man accused transporting untaxed cigarettes THROUGH HARRISBURG

Stop motion today in Harrisburg led to the arrest of Brooklyn man who is accused of transporting between 900 and 1000 boxes of untaxed cigarettes from Greensboro, North Carolina in Brooklyn.

Just after 11 am, Trooper State Police pulled over, Ali Mohamed, 39, in his Toyota van on the interstate north of about 81 Cameron Street. Troopers found a cigarette after a search of the vehicle, police said.

Cigarette street value in Pennsylvania would be about $ 41000, and in New York about $ 78,000, police said.

State police handed the investigation to the State Department Bureau of Criminal Investigation income tax, which is charged with Mohammed sales unstamped cigarettes and possession of unstamped cigarettes.
